Isn't college for learning?

I have read so many book in my time that I there was a point that I would always say that I always need to finish a book, regardless if I like it or not. I will complain about it till I finish it and then my husband which just say, "why do you read it if you don't like it, just stop and read a different one!" Mostly I was just stubborn I guess and hated not finishing something, till I actually came across a book I didn't like and just finally told my self "just stop girl!" So I did. I also don't start reading books I know I won't like. I stick to romance novels and mystery novel because I know I will like them.
This post is gonna have a few reviews in it. I had planned to do some mini reviews but the book I started had a second book to it so I'm just gonna go with the flow on this. I wanted to take a break from romance for some stupid reason and read a mystery book, I do love them but mystery books are hard one for me as they need to pull me hard into it. Which sadly this one book I started just didn't do it. I swear it took me 3 days to get to 50 pages. My new rule now is; if I don't get into it within 50 pages I will stop reading it. I think its fair, because the next book i started reading i got to 50 pages in like..15 minutes. So clearly i wasn't into it.
That book was called Death comes e-calling by Leslie O'Kane
What I got out of it so far was this girl Molly moved back home with her kids and husband but her husband makes envelopes (?) in some other country so its just her and her kids. She finds out her old teacher from like 15 years ago dead of a heart attack, which isn't weird but got a email from her personal account to her business account saying it was her fault she died and she's like what this is weird. she gets two of them. Mostly at this point not like anything is happening in the book that I'm like WOAH WHO DID IT?! at this point i don't even care enough to want to read I wasn't drawn into it, wanting more. The cop or sheriff in town (honestly i don't really know the difference) says they found a note by woman saying something about this poem that Molly wrote in high school about how much of a d-bag she was, honestly now i don't actually remember much as i stopped paying attention, so i knew i had to stop so I did. I hate not finishing a book and I knew it takes time to write books and honestly there are good reviews about it, I just have to realize not all books are made for everyone.
I started reading another book on my books to read in 2021 and Its called One & Only which after it is called Sweet & Wild by Viv Daniels. I will my best to separate the books but they go together in a way. I'll try to keep it short.(lol)
The first one starts with a girl named Tess and she is super smart, she goes to this summer nerd camp and meets a guy named Dylan they keep it friendly till the project is done and then they both admit they like each other and lose their virginity together, its a super cute part. the problem is that they live far from each other and she says it will never work and basically ghosts him when they separate. its kinda sad. apparently know one does friendships anymore.
fast forward two years, she went to the state college cause her dad pays for it and eventually she gets a scholarship to Canton for this Bio-E program. She tells herself she wont see Dylan (who she knew would be there) she was wrong. He apparently switched majors and now they half they're classes together.
The biggest secret that Tess has is that her mother is actually a mistress to her father who is super rich dude who owns a bunch of stuff. Even the school has his name somewhere is the dorms. I don't know much about schools in the states but he was a big deal apparently.
She isn't allowed to talk about her dad because no one is allowed to know any of this. Her mom is okay with this and he pays for thing for her as long as she follows what he says. Early in her life she finds out that he is still married and she has a sister named Hannah. They aren't allowed to talk or anything. Sadly, I know situations like this exist i just never actually thought of things like this and now the child would feel when they're older. It gives you a perspective on this situation.
Tess finds out that Dylan is actually dating her sister Hannah, awkward.
He says he's gonna break up with her but doesn't because Hannah had this health scare and he didn't wanna be a douche.
Eventually a lot of stuff happens, doubt, confusion. Honestly I loved this story and how it came to be and she felt like she was being her mother and it was in her blood to be the other woman, because they kept making out a lot and she kept stopping because she didn't want to be the other girl. Eventually Dylan just breaks up with her after she finds out its not cancer, she just has a bad thyroid. Dylan finds out about this whole weird problem with their dad and sister and oh man its good shit. Hannah confronts Tess and how she knew because Dylan told her and blackmails her dad into giving Tess the money to stay at Canton so she wont tell her mom about her. Dylan and Tess end up together and super romantic, yes they're in college but i am a SUCK for this shit.
Going into the next book its about Hannah, she goes to Europe to run away from all this stuff and well it doesn't really help her.
she's tanning at her pool and she keeps staring at the handyman next door.
He ends up helping her when her car breaks down and at this point they've had a few interactions with each other, and they go on this drive to somewhere secluded and they have sex in that back of his truck. You kinda find out that she likes the dirty talk and telling what to do.
They end up hanging out a few times, you found out his name is Boone, sadly now all I imagine is Boone from Lost because I really don't know any other guy with that name.
Most of Hannah's story is about her not knowing what she wants, if a guy or her future. She gets dumped by her ex boyfriend for her sister and she keeps changing her major in school, she loves Horror films and writes a blog about indie films. It's an amazing story on how she has to grow up and realize what her life is about, I mean the sex between Hannah and Boone are hot. You find out things about Boone and eventually he finds out about Tess and Dylan. Crazy drama in books are amazing and that's the shit i live for. I think my life is so boring that I need drama, but I'd rather read about it than have to deal with it. ahahah.
Anywho... she had wrote a screen play for a horror film and she submits it to this invite only course and she gets it but has 24 hours to decides and after much discussion Boone convinces her to do it because it over lapped with a pre-req she didn't even want to do. Her and Boone work out their differences and finally end up together, I mean all books are HEA so don't act like I ruin any of these books. It has a three years later part about her movie coming to be and stuff about her and Boone being engaged and for some reason I cried. I love these books and crying makes me feel better.
I love love stories. Maybe its because I finally got mine that I know the feeling, mine may have a few low drama feels but its over all quite unentertaining. We're both nerds in our own way.
okayokay before I random about unnecessary stuff. I would SO rate this books 5 holy right in the feels stars. I love coming of age books I know this is more like early 20s but seriously that's the age where you really start to notice things differently in life. I moved away to a different province when I was 22, I had no idea what we were doing. Some days I still think that. aha.
